KILLEEN, Texas — Testimony continued Thursday in the trial of Erica Brownlee and James Pinkard, both of whom are accused of killing Rocky Marsh in Killeen in March 2017. By the end of the day, the state and defense each rested their case.
The state focused on surveillance video shot from inside and outside the Texan Mart where the victim, suspects and witnesses reportedly encountered each other.
The state showed the 30 minutes of footage leading up to Marsh's encounter with the suspects.
Audio from the surveillance camera seems to include Pinkard accuse Marsh of pulling a knife followed by Pinkard telling Marsh "Be here when I get back, and you'll see how many people are here."
Marsh seems to respond by saying, "I'm not going to be here."
During cross examination, a detective said they found no evidence Marsh had a knife.
Officials said Marsh was later found dead at the Morgan Manor Apartments, beaten and stabbed with a screwdriver multiple times.
