GATESVILLE, Texas — The Gatesville Police Department responded to the Mount Calvary Church of God, located in the 100 block of North 12th Street, after it was vandalized, according to the Gatesville PD.

Officers learned that Tuesday evening that suspects painted derogatory remarks on the front of the church. The suspects also threw a rock through a window of the Sweet Home Baptist Church across the street, according to the Gatesville PD.

The Coryell County Sheriff's Office posted about the vandalized church on their Facebook page Wednesday afternoon.

On Friday, July 31, Gatesville police arrested a 15-year-old connected to the crimes at both churches. An arrest warrant was also obtained for Nickolas Harborth, 19, of Gatesville. Late that night, Harborth was arrested on the outstanding warrant and taken to Coryell County Jail.

Both will face charges of Criminal Mischief over $750 to a place of worship with bias and/or prejudice, which is a 3rd Degree Felony.
