Hillsboro is a semi-finalist for America’s Main Streets contest.
The contest promotes the importance and strong economic benefits of Main Streets and the small business that help them thrive.
Hillsboro’s main street area dates back to the late 1800s and many buildings downtown remain true to their original state.
The city’s Main Street Program’s mission is to create, restore, and inspire the quality growth of downtown Hillsboro.
In May 2015, Hillsboro’s downtown had a 64 percent occupancy rate. As of January 2018, that number has grown to 91 percent occupancy and downtown.
The winning Main Street will receive $25,000 in cash and related prizes to help revitalize that street.
