KILLEEN, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation announced in a press release that lanes of I-14 at Clear Creek Road, as well as the eastbound exit ramp to N. Clear Creek, will be temporarily closed for construction next week.
From 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, the westbound lanes of I-14 at Clear Creek Road will be closed. Following that, the eastbound lanes at the same spot will be closed from 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16.
The eastbound exit ramp to N. Clear Creek will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17.
All times and dates for construction are dependent on weather conditions.
TxDOT said the temporary closures will allow the contractor to set deck panels for a new westbound to eastbound turnaround bridge, which will span the mainlanes of I-14 and the eastbound exit ramp to Clear Creek Road.
During construction, I-14 traffic traveling east and west will go to the frontage road, while traffic going north and south on Clear Creek Road will be reduced to single lane traffic at the bridge, TxDOT said.
Police will direct traffic during construction, TxDOT said.
Capital Excavation Co. out of Austin is the contractor carrying out the overall $4.5 million roadway reconfiguration project that started in August 2018.
TxDOT said the project will be completed in late Summer 2019.
