KILLEEN, Texas — A multi-home fire was extinguished by the Killeen Fire Department Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Fire Department, firefighters were called to Franz Drive, where they managed to extinguish a fire that had damaged three homes.
Firefighters believe that the fire began in a driveway and exterior shed before spreading to three nearby residences. Two of these homes were vacant and under renovation at the time of the fire. One resident and one pet were reportedly inside the third home, but both were outside by the time fire crews arrived.
Fire crews reported heavy fires and damages to the three homes, but thankfully no injuries have been reported either to residents or firefighters. One passerby was reportedly treated for smoke inhalation, but was not taken to the hospital.
Numerous fire engines and emergency vehicles reported to the scene, including six fire engines and two ambulances, as well as aid from the Fort Hood Fire Department and the Killeen Building Inspections division.
The three homes have been reportedly deemed uninhabitable. Killeen FD reports that the cause of the fire is not yet known. The Killeen Office of Homeland Security and Emergency management was also reportedly on the scene to assist the displaced resident.
