UPDATE: 'Armed, dangerous' suspect in shooting near Shoemaker High turns himself in

Damani Hoseph Bisio turned himself in on Friday for charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the Killeen Police Department said. Shoemaker High School and Iduma Elementary School were put on external lockdowns as police searched for him after they say he shot someone in the area on Nov. 16.

KILLEEN, Texas — A 22-year-old "armed, dangerous" suspect in the shooting near Shoemaker High School turned himself in on Friday, the Killeen Police Department said.

Damani Joseph Bisio was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

He is currently in the Bell County Jail, and his bond was set at $500,000, police said.

Shoemaker High School and Iduma Elementary School were put on external lockdowns as police searched for a shooting suspect in the area on Nov. 16.

The lockdowns were lifted around 2:30 p.m. after officials said the area was "cleared and secure," but officers were unable to arrest the suspect.

Police later identified 21-year-old Damani Joseph Bisio as a person of interest in the investigation.

Bisio was wanted for an outstanding warrant. Officials advise anyone who sees the suspect not to approach him because he is considered armed and dangerous.

Officers responded to a shots fired call in the 4500 block of Windcrest Dr. where they found a male suffering from a gunshot wound around 1 in the afternoon, according to Killeen Police Department officials.

Officials did not know which way the suspect went after the shooting, prompting the lockdowns.

The lockdowns were external only, meaning students were not allowed to go outside, but internal activity continued as usual.

The victim was taken to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple with life threatening injuries.
