KILLEEN, Texas — A 16-year-old runaway who had been missing since Oct. 16 from Florence, Mississippi, was found safe in Killeen Thursday.
Florence investigators determined the girl could have been in Killeen with a 22-year-old active soldier stationed at Fort Hood.
U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Division at the base informed investigators the soldier was living at a residence off post.
Investigators went to the residence where they found the 22-year-old and the girl.
Mississippi officials will travel to Texas to return the runaway to her guardians in Mississippi.
Investigators plan to speak with federal and local prosecutors to decide if the soldier will be charged with any criminal offenses.
