Vandals ransack church in Moody, pastor says

The pastor of Willow Grove Baptist Church asked for prayers for his church family and the "individuals who perpetrated these acts."

MOODY, Texas — Members of a Moody church are left to clean up a big mess after it was vandalized Saturday.

The pastor of Willow Grove Baptist Church, Steve Desjardins, posted several pictures of the damage to his Facebook page.

The pictures showed paint thrown throughout the building, bibles torn up and destroyed, and the nursery ransacked and toys left broken.

“I have great sorrow along with my fellow believers because yesterday our church was seriously vandalized. I respectfully ask for your prayers and support, during our time of trial,” the post said.

Desjardins also asked for prayers for the person or people responsible for the damage.

“Please also pray for those individuals who chose to bring such destruction upon our local church home, and finally pray for the families of the individuals who perpetrated these acts,” he said in the post.

Church members will meet to determine when the cleanup will begin, the pastor said.

Willow Grove Baptist Church is located at 13940 Willow Grove Rd and appears to be situated along a densely populated road in the small community.

The church will also meet to decide if they will press charges, the pastor said.

No arrests have been made.

Those who would like to help the church with its clean up efforts can mail donations to Willow Grove Baptist Church P.O. Box 129, Moody, Texas 76557. All donations will be set aside for building restoration, Desjardins said.
