One man dead following late night crash in Killeen

A car struck the median along IH-14 in Killeen and went up in flames, according to police.

KILLEEN, Texas — The Killeen Police Department is investigating an overnight car crash that left 29-year-old Ezekiel DeSean Connor dead at the scene.

Police were dispatched to IH-14 eastbound near Old FM 440 just after 10:45 p.m. April 21 after receiving a 911 call about a "major crash."

The officers found a gold sedan flipped over and engulfed in flames.

The preliminary investigation found that the car was traveling at a high speed northbound on Old FM 440 and went through the stop sign on Central Texas Expressway. The vehicle traveled across the highway, airborne, striking the concrete median along IH-14. Connor, the single occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Killeen police said they are still investigating the crash and will release information as it becomes available.
