LACY LAKEVIEW -- One person was taken to the hospital after a house fire in the 300 block of South Barbara Street in Lacy Lakeview Friday morning.
The fire broke out in the kitchen around 5:30 a.m. while a man inside was making coffee, but it was too early to say if the coffee-making process directly caused the fire, according to a fire official.
Lacy Lakeview Fire Chief Patty Faulkner said the flames ended up burning past the kitchen before the blaze could be extinguished.
"It's a good case for residential fire sprinklers because it wouldn't have extended past the kitchen if they'd had that," Faulkner said.
The four people inside the home were able to get out of the house safely. But, one person was transported to the hospital for what early indications suggest may have been smoke inhalation. The other three individuals inside were unharmed.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
