In wake of the high school shooting last week in Parkland, Florida that left 17 dead, schools around the country, including those in Central Texas have taken precautions to keep their students and staff safe.

Copperas Cove ISD had the following message on their website regarding the Florida shooting:

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families suffering from the tragedy in a Florida school recently. At CCISD, our top priority is the safety of our students and staff. CCISD does have Emergency Operations Plans in place and security drills are routinely conducted at every district facility. While we cannot predict the future, we do take every precaution possible to protect our students and staff in order to ensure a safe learning and working environment at school, on school buses and at after-school events. If you see something that seems out of the ordinary, please report it to an administrator or contact CCPD.

This is the second known non-specific threat toward a local school this week, as North Belton Middle School increased the presence of law enforcement Tuesday after a social media post circulated threatening violence on its campus.
