'Patriotic June' spreads happiness online in viral video

June said she loves her country and just "wanted to sing a couple songs"

TEMPLE, Texas — In an uncertain time for a nation that's battling COVID-19 we all could use something to pick us up, brush us off and make us smile.

That's where 80-year-old June Knight comes into the picture with a video she posted from her Temple home to her Facebook page on Thursday dressed head to toe in the colors of our country.

"There you are, good morning," June told her Facebook audience with an enthusiastic wave of her arms and hands. "I wanted to do something patriotic today because I love America and I wanted to sing you a couple of songs."

And with that, in her living room, a hat on her head that embodies the stars and stripes of our nation and a red t-shirt on, June began to sing 'Yankee Doodle Dandy.'

In total, June sang three songs, including 'You're a Grand Old Flag' and the 'Star Spangled Banner.'

The video, which is only a couple minutes long, is innocent, patriotic and beautiful. It just might be what you need to watch today to remember that we can make it through this time together.

And maybe, you'll find yourself singing along with June with a smile on your face.
