Semi-trailer crashes into grass truck parked in shoulder lane on Hwy. 6

One 18-wheeler caught fire and was a "total loss," according to the Falls County Sheriff's Office.

FALLS COUNTY, Texas — Two 18-wheelers collided on Hwy. 6. Friday night, sending both drivers to the hospital.

The crash happened on Hwy. 6, just south of FM 1373 when a semi-trailer drove into a grass truck that was parked in the shoulder while the driver made a phone call, according to Josh Cashion with the Department of Public Safety.

Cashion said both vehicles caught fire. Fall's County sheriff officials said one of the 18-wheelers caught fire and was a "total loss."

Both drivers were able to get out of their vehicles and were taken to local hospitals. No fatalities were reported.

A helicopter was called out to transport those who were injured, but was later cancelled. They were taken to the hospital by ground, according to the sheriff's office.

A wrecker and HAZMAT team were sent to the scene because diesel was leaking onto the road.

Department of Public Safety troopers, DPS, Falls County Sheriff's Office officials, the Rosebud Volunteer Fire Department, the Reagan VFD, the Marlin VFD, Reagan VFD and Bremond VFD all helped at the scene.

Editor's note: A previous version of this story said three were injured in the crash and only one truck caught fire. It has since been updated to reflect the two injuries and both vehicles catching fire.
