Home tips for freezing weather:

  • Add insulation to exposed pipes and turn on faucets to a small trickle to keep pipes from freezing.
  • Bring small plants indoors and cover larger outdoor plants in blankets, straw or cardboard to keep them from freezing.
  • Turn off automatic sprinklers and detach any outdoor hoses to prevent outdoor pipe damage.
  • Be sure to bring pets indoors or make sure they have well-insulated shelter outside. Outdoor pets also need extra food during colder temperatures.
