Teague, Dew, Donie fire crews extinguish hay fire on 40-foot trailer

It took three fire crews three hours to put out a hay fire that stretched the entire length of a 40-foot gooseneck trailer.

TEAGUE, Texas — It took three fire crews three hours and around 15,000 gallons of water to put out a hay fire Saturday, according to the Teague Volunteer Fire Department.

Teague, Dew and Donie fire crews were dispatched to the fire on Hwy. 80S and FCR 731 around 1:30 p.m.

When crews arrived, heavy fire was stretching the entire length of a 40-foot gooseneck trailer, TVFD officials said.

Community members brought the firefighters cold drinks, ice and pickles. One person even brought his snow cone truck.

"This fire took over three hours to extinguish on one of the hottest days of the year so far," TVFD said in a Facebook post. "We are very blessed for all of the support the community provides."
