Temple City Council approves grant for downtown development

The property located on 108 North Main Street is eligible to receive up to $100,000 in matching grant funds and an additional $30,000 for downtown mixed-use residential units.

TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple City Council approved a grant for downtown development of the historic district at Thursday's meeting. 

They adopted a resolution authorizing a development agreement to provide Strategic Investment Zone grant funding for the development.

The property located on 108 North Main Street is eligible to receive up to $100,000 in matching grant funds and an additional $30,000 for downtown mixed-use residential units.

The owner of the property proposed to renovate the property and construct a food hall on the ground floor, which will be called City Eats. Some of the eight vendors at City Eats include a bakery and dessert booth, Asian inspired street food, fusion tacos, wine, and beer.

The second floor will have four apartment units from 1,000 to 2,000 square feet each. 

There's no timeline on when construction will begin.
