TEMPLE, Texas — A Temple police officer is on paid leave pending an investigation of criminal allegations, said Temple Police Department public information officer Shawana Neely.
The department said it first heard about criminal allegations against the officer on Nov. 17.
Immediately after, the officer was placed on paid leave and had all physical and remote access to the department and its record management systems restricted, said media relations specialist Ellen Morton.
The Texas Rangers are the lead agency in the investigation, and any additional information will come from them, Neely said.
The department said it is conducting an internal investigation and it won't release the officer's name or say what the allegations are.
