Two prosecutors will leave before end of McLennan County DA's term

The DA's office confirmed Wednesday morning that Michael Jarrett and Brody Burks are leaving to take other positions.

Two prosecutors with the McLennan County District Attorney's office will leave before the end of Abel Reyna's term.

The DA's office confirmed Wednesday morning that Michael Jarrett and Brody Burks are leaving to take other positions.

Jarrett is taking a position in the private sector, according to the District Attorney's office. His last day is May 1st. The DA's office said Burks will leave to be an advisor to Governor Greg Abbott on criminal justice. His last day will be April 27th.

Reyna issued a statement thanking both of them for their contributions.

"I sincerely appreciate Michael Jarrett and Brody Burks for their contributions to our office and their hard work for the citizens of McLennan County. I wish them all the best in their new careers and am excited for them and the opportunities that they have been given.This gradual transition is expected and it is very normal for prosecutors to leave in the final months of a District Attorney's term."

Jarrett and Burks helped in the prosecution of Dallas Bandido Jake Carrizal in 2017. The trial ended in a mistrial.
