WACO -- A Central Texas man will portray convicted killer Steven Avery -- made famous by the popular Netflix series "Making a Murder" -- on another national television show airing July 30.

Chad Pack, 33, of Waco, plays the young version of Avery in an episode of "Murder Made me Famous" set to air on the REELZ cable channel at 8 p.m. Saturday.

DNA evidence that exonerated Avery caused him to be released from prison in 2003 after serving 18 years in prison for rape and attempted murder. But two years after his release on the wrongful conviction, Avery was arrested for the murder of a Wisconsin photographer. He was convicted and is currently serving a life sentence.

Pack spent hours researching Avery to get into character for the episode, which filmed over the course of three days in Dallas.

"Being able to play him. It's an honor. I would never have imagined it would happen," Pack said.

Pack is recently married and currently works for a cable company. He has some experience doing work as an extra, but he hopes his high-profile television appearance could lead to more acting roles.
