WACO, Texas — A car ran a red light and caused a rollover crash with a Waco Police Department SUV around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Sgt. Patrick Swanton said.

The police officer was driving north on Hewitt Drive when the other car ran a red light at the Imperial Drive intersection and crashed into the police SUV, Swanton said.

The airbag pinned the officer for a few minutes, but another officer was nearby and able to get her out of the SUV, Swanton said.

The officer was taken to Baylor Scott and White Hospital for minor injuries and was released after her treatment, Swanton said.

The driver who ran the red light was not hurt, and he was ticketed.
