MARLIN, Texas — The Marlin Police Department is looking for two men who robbed a Cefco convenience store at gunpoint early Friday morning.

Sgt. David Ott said the department received a call around 12:45 a.m. of a robbery at a Cefco convenience store at the intersection of business highways 6 and 7 in Marlin.

According to Marlin Police Chief Nathan Sodek, two men walked into the store wearing masks and gloves. One of the men pointed a gun at the clerk before taking an unknown amount of money.

The suspects reportedly left on foot and ran around the store, south on Williams Street.

The one employee working at the time of the incident was not injured, Sodek said.

Marlin police requested help from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, who initiated a search with two track dogs. Officers were led around the convenience store and an Exxon Mobil gas station across the street. Sodek said the dogs lost the scent of the suspects at the Marlin City Park.

Chief Sodek said they are not releasing any surveillance video because it is under review. He said they will release it to KCEN when they get a "good picture" in hopes that people will call Marlin police with tips.

Police will continue to patrol the area Friday morning while the Cefco convenience store remains open and the investigation continues.
