Friends surprise Army veteran following his retirement

SSG Taisacan retired after 20-years of service

KILLEEN, Texas — The coronavirus has left it's mark throughout Central Texas but friends of recently retired SSG Jonathan Taisacan weren't going to let him go into the retired life without showing their appreciation

Tuesday, friends poured down his street, their cars decorated with balloons and streamers of red, white and blue, honking their horns to say 'thank you' while practicing social distancing because of COVID-19.

"I just wanted to share this," Jonathan's wife, Carmen, said in a Facebook message to 6 News. "No matter what is going on in this world right now, we focus on today because tomorrow is not promised. He served 20 years and he said this is enough. He cried and he loved it. We need a little joy even if it just for a moment."

A total of seven cars honked and friends waved as a way to honor a man who served his country proudly. SSG Taisacan, clearly moved in the video, thanks everyone as it ends.
