Fort Hood to test emergency notification systems

The tests will begin at 2 p.m. and will include a loud siren-like sound.

FORT HOOD, Texas — Fort Hood will test its emergency notification systems 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials said the Installation Operation Center will conduct tests of the mass warning and notification system, the internal mass notification system and the external mass notification system.

The external mass notification system will feature a loud siren-like sound followed by the message, "Attention, this is a test of the Fort Hood emergency warning system. This is only a test. If this had been an actual emergency, additional instructions would be broadcast. This is only a test."

The message will repeat three times.
