WACO, Texas — There was a battle of the two hottest teams in the Big 12 at the Ferrell Center on Saturday night.

Baylor and Kansas State battled it out for the top spot in the Big 12 standings. Unfortunately for Baylor, the Bears were without two starters. King McClure missed the game with a knee injury and Makai Mason was out with a bruised foot. A Baylor spokesperson says they are both day-to-day.

Coming into the game, Baylor had won six of its last seven and the Wildcats had won seven of their last eight.

Baylor kept it close the majority of the game. There were eight lead changes and the game was tied nine times. But down the stretch the lack of experience on the court for Baylor hurt them. Kansas State went on a late run and ended up winning 70-63. This is Baylor's second consecutive loss.

Devonte Bandoo, who started for the Bears, led the team with 15 points. Freddie Gillespie had 13 with nine rebounds, he was 6-7 from the field. Jared Butler finished with 13. Kamau Stokes led the way for the Wildcats with 20 points.

Baylor will be back in action on Monday against Oklahoma at the Ferrell Center at 8 p.m.
