Baylor's Butler named to Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List

The sophomore guard's contribution to the 6-1 Bears has been noticed.

INDIANAPOLIS — Baylor sophomore guard Jared Butler has been named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association made the announcement Thursday for the men's basketball Player of the Year award.

The USBWA named 46 players to the watch list:

Butler, a sophomore from Reserve, Louisiana, is averaging 19.4 points and 2.6 assists per game for 6-1 Baylor.

The Bears beat Maryland-Eastern Shore 78-46 Tuesday and will host Arizona at 11 a.m. Saturday.
