Bears win 2OT thriller on homecoming

Baylor is now 6-0 and bowl-eligible for the second time under Matt Rhule.

WACO, Texas — More than 47,000 fans watched a thrilling win for Baylor on Saturday.

No. 22 Baylor beat Texas Tech 33-30 in double overtime Saturday at McLane Stadium.

JaMycal Hasty scored the game-winning touchdown, a 5-yard rush, in the second overtime period, capping a 5-carry, 37-yard day for Hasty.

Neither defense bent in the first time, as the teams traded field goals with the Red Raiders leading 6-3 at half.

Baylor QB Charlie Brewer scored the game's first touchdown in the third quarter and had the only Bear TD's entering the second overtime period, on three QB keepers.

Brewer also three three interceptions Saturday, his first interceptions of the season. Brewer still finished 24-for-37 for 352 yards passing with 15 carries for 55 yards and the three TD's.

But that didn't come without a couple losses for the Bears, with injuries along the way.

"We had a lot of major injuries tonight," Baylor coach Matt Rhule said after the game. "I'm not sure where they are all are. A lot of guys went down. Tonight was a story of guys having to step up."

Among the injuries was senior LB Clay Johnston. Those players will be evaluated later.

Next, the Bears travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma, to face Oklahoma State. The Cowboys enter the game off an open week.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Boone Pickens Stadium.
