Bruceville-Eddy ends longest playoff drought in Class 3A history Thursday

The Bruceville-Eddy High School varsity football team will make its first playoff appearance since 1985 on Thursday night -- ending the longest playoff drought in Class 3A history.

For 32 years, the team has not made the cut. In 2016, the Eagles missed the mark by a single win. This year, Marlin's Week 10 victory over New Waverly propelled Bruceville-Eddy to the post-season.

Bruceville-Eddy will play Rice at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Channel 6 News will have complete sports coverage of the game from Sports Director Nick Canizales.

Back in June, Greg Tepper of Dave Campbell's Texas Football publication appeared on Channel 6 and predicted this would be the year for Bruceville-Eddy. You can watch the prediction he made to Weekend Sports Anchor Jessica Morrey below.
