'F--- the refs': Cowboys' Lawrence blasts officials in postgame rant

Lawrence, who leads the NFL with 13.5 sacks, said his team isn’t benefiting from enough holding calls in recent weeks.

Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence blasted NFL officiating in a postgame rant following the Cowboys’ 30-10 road win over the Giants Sunday.

Lawrence, who leads the NFL with 13.5 sacks, said his team isn’t benefiting from enough holding calls in recent weeks.

“We ain’t getting no holding calls. The refs are out there for nothing,” he said. “I ain’t seen a holding call in the last five games, it’s ridiculous that the refs are out here just looking at me getting tackled by offensive linemen.

“It’s like, ‘C’mon, if you’re going to be out here, do your job.”

He ended the rant with “F--- the refs.” And while the breakout pass-rusher will likely face a fine for his comments, he may have a point.

Cowboys’ opponents have been flagged for holding just 10 times this season, the second-fewest in the NFL. The Cowboys’ O-line -- which is still one of the best units in football this season -- has 21 holding penalties, tied for fifth-most in the league.

He took aim at the NFL’s rules adjustments that focus on protecting the quarterback -- something he says is a double standard.

“I feel like it’s unfair. I have a family to come home to. If you’re trying protect quarterbacks, you’ve got to protect me too,” he said. “If you’re going to do it, you have to do it on both sides. If you’re going to sit here and call some BS on my O-line, you gotta it call on their O-line too.”

New York was flagged once for holding on Sunday. The Redskins were called for holding once in the Cowboys’ Week 13 game on Nov. 30. In the eight games before that, the Cowboys’ defensive line didn’t benefit from a single holding call on the line of scrimmage.

Dallas offensive linemen and tight ends have seen 18 holding calls over the same stretch, according to the Star-Telegram.
