No. 1 Baylor set to battle No. 8 Cal in Round of 32

Baylor and Cal tip off at 8 p.m. on Monday

WACO, Texas — Baylor's 57-point win over 16-seed ACU in the first round was the second largest margin of victory in a tournament game for the Lady Bears in program history.

Baylor will now face 8-seed Cal in the second round for the third time since 2014. Cal beat 9-seed North Carolina, 92-72 in the first round on Saturday.

The Lady Bears are 16-1 all time at home in the NCAA Tournament and they haven't lost a tournament game at the Ferrell Center since 2002. Baylor beat Cal at home in the second round in 2014 and 2017.

Baylor and Cal both have size down low. The Golden Bears are one of a few teams who have a post player who can match up well with Kalani Brown. Kristine Anigwe is that player for Cal. The 6'4 senior is the only player in NCAA DI men's or women's basketball to have a double-double in every game this season. She also broke the Pac-12 single-season rebounding record. Against North Carolina on Saturday, she had 18 points and 22 rebounds.

"I think this match-up is going to have a Sweet 16 atmosphere to it because they have outstanding post play. They have outstanding guards. They are a team that has upperclassmen. They just match up well with us. I think it's going to be just a battle," Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey said on Sunday.

No. 1 Baylor and No. 8 Cal tip off at 8 p.m. on Monday at the Ferrell Center.

With a win, Baylor will advance to it's 11-straight Sweet 16.
