SALADO, Texas — Salado defensive end Tommie Barker signed his National Letter of Intent to play football at Lamar University.
Barker was a three year letterman that helped lead Salado to a district championship in 2017. The 2-time All-District selection recorded 80 total tackles, 6 sacks and one blocked field goal for his career.
"The environment and the coaches." said Barker. "How they were coaching was everything I was hoping for in a college."
This marks the first signing class in program history to come in following a trip to the NCAA FCS Playoffs.
"I'm really excited and it's going to be a good time." said Barker. "They (Lamar) just got off of a winning season and I'm hoping there is another winning season right behind the door for me."
Lamar will open the 2019 season at home against Bethel (TN) University on August 31.
