COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Texas A&M’s Kellen Mond has been named to the 2019 Maxwell Award Watch List, announced Monday by the Maxwell Football Club.

Mond, a junior quarterback from San Antonio, Texas, tallied over 30 touchdowns a season ago as he saw an increase in every statistical category from his freshman campaign. The right-hander finished fourth in total offense, fifth in touchdowns through the air and sixth in passing yardage in the Southeastern Conference.

Each year the Maxwell Football Club presents the Maxwell Award for the College Player of the Year. This award is presented in honor of Robert W. (Tiny) Maxwell, legendary college player, official and sports columnist. Voters for the Maxwell College Awards are NCAA Head College Football Coaches, members of the Maxwell Football Club, sportswriters and sportscasters from across the country.

Mond and his teammates, Justin Madubuike and Braden Mann, are set to represent Texas A&M at SEC Media Days on Tuesday, July 16, in Birmingham, Ala.

Texas A&M opens 2019 against Texas State on August 29 at Kyle Field, a Thursday night contest set to be broadcast on SEC Network.
