Reinald Cole selected in XFL draft after standout UMHB career

Cole was a four-year letterman for the Cru.

BELTON, Texas — Former University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football standout Reginald Cole was selected in the XFL's draft Wednesday. 

Cole was selected by the DC Defenders in the sixth round of the defensive back phase of the XFL draft. Cole, who graduated from Dobie High School, was a four-year letterman for the Cru.

Cole started his career as a wide receiver before making the move to cornerback. 

The Houston native earned All-American honors from the Associated Press and D3football.com following his senior season in 2018. During that season, Cole recorded 35 total tackles and six tackles for loss. 

Cole also intercepted two passes and had an interception return as well as a fumble return for a score. 

Cole finished his Cru career with 91 total tackles. 

He also earned All-Region and ASC All-Conference honors during his career and was a three-time ASC All-Academic honoree.
