These roads, exits to close in Waco this week

Closures begin Tuesday at 7 p.m. Here's what drivers in the area need to know.

WACO, Texas — Heads up Waco divers. TxDOT will be closing some main lanes, frontage roads and exits because crews need to install signs along north and south I-35 main lanes.

Crews plan to start closures Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday. These closures include:

  • The far right southbound main lane from Pecan Avenue to North Loop 340
  • The southbound exit for Behrens Circle, or Exit 338B
  • The far right northbound main lane from Pecan Avenue to Meyers Lane

Crews also plan to close the following from Wednesday at 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday:

  • The two right northbound I-35 main lanes from 4th Street to University Parks Drive
  • The northbound exit to MLK Boulevard, Exit 335
  • The far right southbound I-35 main lane from 8th Street to 12th Street
  •  The I-35 entrance ramp near 8th Street

TxDOT said there will be more closures coming up next week to continue creating the retaining walls. The closures to be expected Monday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1:

  • The southbound I-35 frontage road from Behrens Circle to US 84/Waco Drive
  • Montrose Street, Parrish Street, and Briarwood Lane will also be closed at the frontage road
