TxDOT announces closures for mall-to-mall project

Starting Dec. 2, crews will close the inside westbound mainlane of State Highway 6 from east of the Bagby Avenue underpass to just west of the underpass.

WACO, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation has announced they are preparing for road closures starting Dec. 2 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

According to TxDOT, crews are beginning operations to build interior bents for the proposed U-turn bridges. 

Beginning in late January 2022, TxDOT says they will begin the Mall to Mall project, which will improve safety and mobility along State Highway 6 from US 84 to Bagby Avenue. Thus being the reason for the early closures.

TxDOT says crews will close the inside westbound mainlane of State Highway 6 from east of the Bagby Avenue underpass to just west of the underpass. Additionally, crews will begin work on the south side of State Highway 6. 

According to TxDOT, the closures will include the eastbound ramp west of Bagby Avenue, and a brief closure of the eastbound off-ramp to I-35. After those closures, TxDOT says the crews will also close the two inside eastbound mainlanes.
