How to get help after Imelda

How you can get help after Imelda

BEAUMONT, Texas —

If there’s one thing that we know for sure it’s that Southeast Texas is strong, and we will recover. Signs of recovery are everywhere just days after Imelda.

Local government entities and private institutions are stepping in to help recovery happen. 12News is compiling a running list of ways to get all sorts of help. From food to shelter and help with livestock, check back with this list as it grows.

More than 800 guests are staying in shelters spanning from Houston to the Louisiana border, the Red Cross said in a statement Saturday, Sept. 21 around 5 p.m.

For general storm damage, you should contact the American Red Cross general line at 866-526-8300. You can enter your information by choosing option 3 from the automated menu. The voice will say Hurricane Harvey, but the Red Cross will accept damage reports from Imelda victims. There is no current time frame for when you will be contacted by the Red Cross after reporting.
