TEMPLE, Texas — TODAY/TONIGHT: Cloud cover and drizzle made for a pretty icky day across Central Texas. Temperatures were only able to get into the lower 60's with the cloud cover in place. Unfortunately, the drizzle did not translate into measurable rainfall totals, either. Here's good news on the rain front: chances for measurable rainfall and some rain showers (as opposed to the drizzle) increase overnight into the first part of Saturday. We expect scattered showers to develop before daybreak and last through the first part of your Saturday. Overnight lows will be held up by the cloud cover, dropping only to around the upper 50's.
TOMORROW: Shower chances and the occasional embedded thunderstorm are possible through the early parts of the afternoon tomorrow. A weak cold front will slide through the area throughout the day and will bring an end to the showers by later tomorrow afternoon. That same front looks like it will stall out and move back to the north, allowing south winds by Saturday evening to bring more moisture back in and potentially kick off another round of showers through Saturday night and into Sunday morning. Highs tomorrow should top out in the lower 70's areawide. Rain coverage will be around 40% early in the day.
EXTENDED: Rain chances continue into Sunday, as southeast winds maintain a level of moisture across the area. Overall, Sunday does not present a great chance for rain, but it's worth mentioning that about 20% of us could see some showers through the day. Better chances develop Sunday night and last into Monday morning ahead of our next strong cold front. This front passes through Monday bringing a brief end to the wet weather. It will also knock temperatures back into the lower 60's and upper 50's heading into Tuesday and Wednesday. ANOTHER cold front sweeps through on Wednesday bringing another chance for rain and dipping temperatures into the mid 50's heading into the end of next week.
