Police: Man shoots wife, then self in first murder-suicide in Hewitt history

Police were still investigating the deaths on Monday.

A husband shot and killed his wife then himself in the first murder-suicide in Hewitt's history, according to the Hewitt Police Department.

Hewitt Police Chief Jim Devlin said a family member, who went to check on the couple Monday morning, found a note by the garage entryway door that instructed anybody who saw it not to enter and to call police.

The relative called 911 and officers responded to the home, which was located in the 1100 block of Steamboat Drive in Hewitt.

First responders entered the house and found Barbara K. Hahn, 73, and Robert C. Hahn, 76, dead with single gunshot wounds to their heads, Devlin explained. Barbara was found in a bedroom, and Robert was found in the master bedroom, police said.

Devlin said police found another note taped to the master bedroom door, explaining the couple was having domestic issues. According to Devlin, the man admitted in the note to shooting his wife on Saturday with a firearm he purchased in Virginia in the 70s.
