Biker community plans to rally Sunday in Waco

Bikers are planning a rally in McLennan County.

It's been almost three years since the deadly Twin Peaks shootout, and on Sunday bikers throughout Texas will ride to Waco for a rally at the McLennan County Courthouse.

This is the first rally being held after the first Twin Peaks trial, which ended in a mistrial. It’s being put together by Texas Biker Radio which is an organization out of Dallas-Fort Worth.

Waco bikers like Pops said they plan to show up in big numbers. Pops has been riding for 45 years.

He's the former president of Bikers Against Child Abuse. He said one of the main reasons he'll be at the rally on Sunday is because he does not think bikers have been treated fairly.

"We're not all a bunch of gangsters. We're not all a bunch of hoodlums that go around burning up buildings and tearing up bars," Pops said.

He says it's important for bikers to stand in solidarity. Along with the event organizers, Pops said it’s important for bikers to exercise their rights to assemble in a peaceful manner. This rally is being held a little more than a week before the primary elections. Pops strongly believe the Twin Peaks cases were handled improperly by current district attorney Abel Reyna.

"I just hope that if our current district attorney is re-elected he will sit back and rethink what has happened, and really take a long hard look at the community and people’s lives who has been ruined by this," Pops said.

Earlier this month, Reyna released this statement regarding all the accusations against him and his role in the Twin Peaks prosecutions.

The rally will happen at 1 p.m on Sunday at the McLennan County Courthouse.
