Fort Hood's 1ABCT Commander discusses preparations for upcoming deployment

"When we come back, we'll have consumed zero readiness. If the Army needs us the day we get back, we'll be better than when they actually shipped us over to Europe," said Colonel Trey Rutherford, Commander of Fort Hood's 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team.

Check out the raw interview as Channel 6 Military Reporter Jillian Angeline discussed what is ahead for the deployment with the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team with the 1st Cavalry Division.

Colonel Trey Rutherford also offers a message to 1st Brigade families who are preparing for their loved ones to deploy.

"The great thing is I can relate with a majority of the soldiers because most of them have younger kids. I have young kids," Rutherford said.

In October, the Department of Army announced there will be 3,500 1st Brigade troops deploying to support Operation Atlantic Resolve.
