Lady Bears selected as number two seed in NCAA Tournament

The Women's NCAA Basketball Tournament Selection Show is at 6 p.m. Monday.

Despite finishing the season ranked second in the nation, the Baylor Lady Bears will be a No. 2 seed in the Lexington region during the NCAA women's basketball tournament.

The Lady Bears learned their placement Monday night during ESPN's selection show.

Louisville is the No. 1 seed in that region. The Lady Bears will host No. 15 Grambling State at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the Ferrell Center. Michigan and Northern Colorado are also coming to Waco.

The Lady Bears had a 31-1 overall record this season, a 28-game winning streak, and remained undefeated at home and in conference play this season.

UConn finished No. 1 in the The Associated Press Women’s Basketball Poll for the fifth straight year. Baylor, Louisville, Mississippi State and Notre Dame followed UConn in the AP poll. Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, UCLA and Ohio State round out the top 10.
