BRYAN, Texas — Matt Farrell is KCEN and KAGS' new chief meteorologist.

He joined the KAGS team earlier in 2023 after taking a brief hiatus from the world of broadcasting.

Matt’s journey started at UNT where he was a part of the award-winning NTTV News team.

There he discovered a love for meteorology and found his niche at the weather wall. Once he earned his Communication Studies degree, he was off to Norman, Oklahoma to study weather at the prestigious University of Oklahoma School of Meteorology.

After completing his BS in Meteorology, Matt’s career officially began at KMID Big 2 in Midland, TX.

Matt started as a reporter and weekend forecaster, but was quickly promoted to Morning Meteorologist and co-hosted Good Morning West Texas for over 2 years.

Personal needs necessitated a career shift in 2015, and Matt moved back home to DFW. While there, Matt taught high school math across the metroplex. Ultimately, the pull from broadcasting was too strong and when KAGS reached out, he couldn’t resist.

Despite being a lifelong Sooner (Boomer!), Matt has multiple family members that graduated from Texas A&M, so he is familiar with the area and with many of the traditions the Aggies hold dear.

When he’s not tracking the weather, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, rooting on all of his favorite teams, bowling and the occasional round of golf.
