Waco Police Department helping residents dispose of unneeded medications for National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Citizens can drop off unneeded or unwanted medications at the department safely, anonymously and for free, said Waco PD.

WACO, Texas — The Waco Police Department is offering Central Texans a chance to safely dispose of unneeded medications through April 28 as part of the Drug Enforcement Administration's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

The event allows the department to collect medications that are no longer needed or wanted, said Waco PD, as a way to prevent medication misuse or opioid addiction from starting.

Waco PD said a green, locked Take-Back box will be in the lobby of the Waco Police Tower, located at 3115 Pine Ave., from Wednesday, April 24 to Sunday, April 28, for citizens to dispose of their unwanted prescription drugs.

The service is free and anonymous, according to the department.

Waco PD asks residents not to dispose of needles, inhalers, aerosol cans, hydrogen peroxide or thermometers.
