Killeen veteran rides across the nation offering help to others

"Life is short, you only live once. But if you do it right, once is enough"| After 4 family deaths in two year span, William "Gibby" Gibson share kindness nationwide

KILLEEN, Texas — William "Gibby" Gibson, a veteran from Killeen, has embarked on a heartfelt journey across the nation, offering prayers and support to those dealing with grief and loss.

His mission, born out of personal tragedy, has taken him to veteran memorials and communities in need, serving as a beacon of hope for many.

In the wake of consecutive losses, including his wife, mother, father, and sister over a span of two years, Gibson found peace in his faith.

"People that say God won't give you more than you can handle are full of crap. He gives you more than you can handle so that you'll turn to him," Gibson reflected.

Motivated by his own experiences of loss and the need for comfort, Gibson travels the country on his Harley-Davidson, engaging with people and offering prayers.

"I ride around the country, and I talk to people about Jesus, and I pray with them," he shared, having traversed through 49 of the 50 states.

Recently, however, Gibson found himself back in Killeen to honor a fellow veteran, Anthony Brenton, at his funeral. Upon the request of Brenton's wife, Kim, Gibson and his friends escorted the procession, leaving a lasting impact on the family.

"It really touched my heart," expressed Joshua Brenton, Anthony Brenton’s son, grateful for the support during a difficult time.

For Gibson, family holds importance, shown in his home decorated with items passed down from loved ones. With over 50 guitars and numerous music records belonging to his family, Gibson treasures these heirlooms, recognizing the value of familial bonds.

"It's not about me, it's the next generation seeing it, living in it. Family is really everything. Life is short, you only live once. But if you do it right, once is enough," Gibson said.
