Serafina, the dog rescued from a fire in Temple, is ready for adoption

After being taken in by a local rescue in March, Serafina is now ready for her forever home!

TEMPLE, Texas — A happy update in Temple: a dog who was rescued from a house fire is now ready to be adopted!

Pitbull-mix Serafina was taken in by medical rescue Pearl's Place in Temple after reportedly being left in a house fire at the end of February. Pearl's Place said police found Serafina among the ashes of the fire suffering from severe burns.

After being taken to the Humane Society of Central Texas, Serafina went to Pearl's Place to continue her recovery. Founder of Pearl's Place Lisa Kathan said they treated Serafina with oils, medicine and other treatments to take care of her skin and help her heal.

Kathan said Serafina recovered quickly and was even able to play outside and be active with other dogs. Now, she is ready to find her forever home.

In a post on Facebook, Pearl's Place said Serafina will need someone who is willing to keep the hairless part of her body hydrated multiple times a day. The rescue said Serafina will not require "lots" of extra care, but some knowledge of post burnt skin, which they say can no longer produce her natural oils and is not protected from the sun.

Those interested in adopting Serafina should contact Pearl's Place through Facebook or by texting 254-654-8307.
