Silver Alert issued for missing Belton man with dementia

Rogelio Arias, 79, has been missing since Saturday, March 9, and was last seen on Muelhause Street in Belton.

BELTON, Texas — A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing Belton man who suffers from dementia, according to the Belton Police Department.

79-year-old Rogelio Arias was reported missing on Saturday, March 9 after a Ring doorbell camera video showed him leaving his home on Muelhause Street between 8 and 8:30 a.m.

The next confirmed sighting of Arias was on a security camera recording of a private business near I-35 and Central Avenue around noon that same day, according to the City of Belton.

The City said it is unclear if Arias is still in the area, but the Belton Police Department has conducted multiple searches for him and "continues to follow up on leads".

Arias' family, who police say they have been in close contact with, has also been searching for him, conducting search parties around the area.

Arias was reportedly last seen wearing a gray cap with the letters 'CP' on it, a black jacket, blue jeans and brown shoes. His family says he does not have a car, cellphone or credit card, and is only Spanish-speaking. The Silver Alert from Texas DPS describes Arias as 5'5", 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

DPS said Arias walks with a limp and has limited use of his right hand.

Anyone with any information or who believes they have found Arias is asked to contact the Belton Police Department at 254-933-5840 or their local law enforcement immediately.
