Local car wash helping fight food insecurity in BCS community

Aggieland Express Car Wash is donating 100% of proceeds to the Salvation Army's Food Pantry this week.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Aggieland Express’s brand-new location is looking to help fight food insecurity in the Brazos Valley by donating 100% of its proceeds to the Salvation Army.

“The month of November, that’s when everybody gives, but the Salvation Army and the Food Bank would say they need donations way more than just the month of November, so we’re happy to do that in the month of May and I hope the community will come out not only to get a car wash and see what we’re doing, but to know that 100% of the proceeds will go to these guys,” General Manager Kent Forester explained.

From Monday until this Saturday, the local business will directly donate this week’s profits to the Salvation Army’s food pantry, which feeds around 70 families each month.

“It’s very important because this could be your neighbor, you have no idea," said Corps Assistant Caroline Brummer. "We just had somebody that said their house burned down so it could happen to anyone that needs these resources, so it could be the person next to you and you have no idea what they’re struggling with."

The business owner says this just comes from the entire community’s passion for helping others in need.

“Our community is not rare but it's unique," Forester said. "I think a majority of business owners want to be a part of the community that’s why they’re here, that’s why they’re in College Station, so we’re happy just to be a part of it with all the other business owners who are doing the same thing."
