Student led rock band looking for support for bandmate battling cancer

Trent Weaver, a guitarist in the rock band Kitsch, was diagnosed with leukemia this past Christmas. The group is putting on a benefit concert this Friday for him.

BRYAN, Texas — The student led rock band Kitsch has quickly risen to fame and have been playing at many local shows over the years.

However, the group received devastating news this past Christmas when one of their members, Trent Weaver, was diagnosed with leukemia.

Now, the group is hosting a benefit concert this Friday for their best friend, and guitarist.

Jack Baddour, Kitsch's Bassist, described Trent's impact on his life, “Meeting someone like his who is very personable and very easy to get along with so quickly I feel like that alone was the first event that built my college experience, and little did we know throughout the next three years we would see each other at least once a day. So now, since his diagnosis, this is the longest I've gone without seeing him. So, its been really weird not having my best friend around.”

Trent is currently undergoing chemotherapy in advance of a bone marrow transplant and all proceeds of this show will go towards his treatments and his return to the stage.

“I think Trent is so needed in this band just because once you start making money and everything, it gets really serious, and Trent keeps us from taking it too serious and he reminds us this is for fun at the end of the day and we love music,” lead singer of Kitsch, Adrian Rivera said.

They will be preforming at Icehouse on Main along with other bands and are hoping the community will come out to support their bandmate.
