Temple ISD continues assessment amid power outages

Tuesday, May 28, has been designated as a student holiday and staff workday, while Monday will proceed as previously scheduled.

TEMPLE, Texas — As Temple Independent School District conducts ongoing assessments of its facilities, concerns persist over several campuses still grappling with power outages following recent weather-related challenges.

Temple ISD, revealed that four campuses remain without power as evaluations continue. Key areas of focus during these assessments include electrical systems, HVAC functionality, and potential water and gas leaks.

In response to the ongoing situation, Temple ISD has announced adjustments to the academic calendar. Tuesday, May 28, has been designated as a student holiday and staff workday, while Monday will proceed as previously scheduled. 

Collaborative efforts between Temple ISD, the Texas Education Agency, and the City of Temple are underway to determine the most appropriate course of action regarding the safe return of students to campuses. 

Updates will be given to staff and families as decisions are finalized.
