Killeen car service center withheld car for months, car owner wants answers

Alexis Rivera had car problems months after buying his new car. He took his car to get fixed and hasn't gotten it back since.

KILLEEN, Texas — Alexis Rodriguez bought a brand new Hyundai Sonata in December.

In late June, early July his car began giving him problems, not braking properly and not starting. He initially took the car to the Service Max Service Center, the service center for Killeen Hyundai.

A few weeks later, he got his car back but not even 12 hours later, he was forced to take the car back after dealing with the same issues.

It's now going on four months since the service center has had Rivera's car and hasn't had much communication with the center through the last few months.

"I have paid my payments on time though I have no car, they haven’t given me a loaner, they say they have none available, and they have not rented me a car, they offered to “possibly” reimburse me after renting a car. But at $60 a day we’re looking at $1800 a month extra for me to dish out which I don’t have," Rivera explained.

To resolve the issue, he claims to have called Hyundai corporate at least a dozen times, each with no resolution.

Service Max Service Center service advisor and general manager did respond to Riviera's claims.

The service advisor said they have had issues getting parts and supplies needed to finish servicing his car. As for Rivera getting a lender until his car was finished, the general manager said they haven't had any vehicles available as of recently but more have came in.

"As of now they just have me floating in limbo with no car, I’ve missed days of work, have to share a car, take Uber, or ask for rides. All while paying payments on a car that I don’t have," Rivera mentioned.

Rivera recently reached out to a lawyer regarding the issue in hopes of getting his car back as soon as possible.
