AUSTIN, Texas — Texas jobs are at the forefront of national job creation, as the Lone Star State gained the highest number of jobs over the past year, according to March employment figures released on Friday, April 19.

With Texas boasting an impressive addition of more than 2.3 million jobs under Governor Abbott's leadership, the governor emphasized the resilience of the state's economy.

"The most dynamic economy in the nation is built by Texans," Governor Abbott said. "I am proud that Texas again leads all states in annual job creation."

Attributing the continued momentum to different factors, including a strong workforce, business-friendly climate, and strategic investments in education and infrastructure, Governor Abbott showed Texas as a prime destination for job-creating enterprises across diverse areas.

The latest data from the Texas Workforce Commission and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

- Texas reached a historic high with a labor force of 15,189,900.

- The number of Texans employed, including self-employed individuals, hit a record 14,590,800.

- Total jobs surged to a new peak of 14,115,700, with an addition of 19,100 non-farm jobs in March alone.

- Over the period from March 2023 to March 2024, Texas led the nation by adding 270,700 jobs.

- March marked the 45th month of job growth in Texas out of the last 47 months.

Governor Abbott celebrated Texas' outpacing of the national economy, with the state's real gross domestic product growing at an annual rate of 5.0%, earlier this month.
